Banjup – a safe, green haven of peace and tranquility

  1. What Residents Want for Banjup

    1. Residents want Banjup to be a memorable green haven of peace and tranquillity for residents, wildlife, and vegetation, for now and future generations

  2. The Values We Share

    1. Banjup residents are decent, well-meaning people who are invested in the long-term value and rural amenity of our properties

    2. Banjup residents respect and value the natural environment, landscapes, and resources of our area

    3. Residents live in Banjup because of the natural and peaceful lifestyle that it offers on the edge of the metropolitan area

  3. What We Do to Realise Our Vision

    1. Defend our rural amenity and character

    2. Defend against intrusive traffic

    3. Protect, conserve, and enhance the natural flora and fauna of our private properties

    4. Work to preserve and enhance our local reserves as accessible places of peace and quiet with rich flora and fauna

    5. Work to develop and maintain ecological linkages within and between reserves and private properties for the enhancement of local flora and fauna throughout Banjup

    6. Work to reduce the risks from bush fire in public and private lands

  4. How Do We Know If We Are Realising Our Vision?

    1. Through traffic reduces by at least 5%* annually

    2. Tree cover on public and private lands increases by 5%* annually

    3. Exotic flora in public and private bush lands reduce by 5%* annually

    4. Extreme fire risks on public and private lands reduce by 5%* over a rolling 3 year period

    5. Vertebrate native fauna populations increase by 5%* annually

    6. Signed walk trails in Cockburn and State managed reserves increase by 2* km annually

  5. What Do We Want the BRG Committee to Do?

    1. Advocate to local and state governments to

      1. Maintain and protect Banjup’s rural zoning

      2. Reduce traffic through Banjup

      3. Remove exotic and high fire risk flora in bush lands and to plant significant native species

      4. Build signed and accessible walk trails within reserves

    2. Promote to landowners the:

      1. Removal of exotic and high fire risk flora

      2. Protection and growth of native flora and fauna

      3. Sharing of land care knowledge

    3. Advocate to local and state governments to:

      1. Trap and remove feral animals from public lands

      2. Incentivise private landowners to trap and remove feral animals from private lands

      3. Incentivise private landowners to reduce fuel loads on their properties
